Towards the end of the 19th century a number of talented artists
produced a complete series of drawings of the California Missions.
Some of the most interesting drawings were done by Edward Vischer,
who first visited the missions in 1840s, when the buildings were
largely intact. Vischer painted mission scenes full of activity.
This drawing of San Francisco de Asis (Mission Dolores) depicts
a bullfight held in front of the mission.
