03-31-1782 – Mission San Buenaventura is founded near the sizable Chumash Indian village of Mitsqanaqa’n.

04-21-1782 – Presidio of Santa Bárbara is established. This is the only California presidio that is partially restored.

05-01-1782 – The Serra Chapel at San Juan Capistrano is completed. This is the only church that remains in which Fr. Serra held mass.
