1824 – The most serious revolt against the mission systems erupts at Santa Inés Virgen y Martir and then spreads to Santa Bárbara and La Purísima. The neophytes at Santa Bárbara flee and avoid the mission for six (6) months.

1825 – Fr. Narciso Durán becomes Father-President of the Alta California missions.

1825 – The population of San Luis Rey de Francia reaches 2,869, the highest achieved by any mission. Much of the population lives at outlying settlements such as Las Flores and San Antonio de Pala.
